Beloit- George H. Johnson (94) passed away Monday March 17, 2025, at Autum Lake Assisted Living-Beloit. He was born February 11, 1931, in Dubuque, Iowa. The only child of the late Virginia Peterson and George Johnson. He grew up in Beloit where he attended Beloit schools, graduating from Beloit Memorial High School class of 1950.
George will be remembered as a jokester who entertained people with his wit, his stories, his mischievous pranks and his endless jokes. He was very creative especially with metal and his ability to weld. He built so many steel lawn ornaments for friends and family. He engineered, built and installed many new trailer hitches for his friends over the years. If it involved metal, George was the man to help build it or fix it. He once built an amazing green house that he started seedlings in every year. Once everything was growing, he would keep some for himself but gave most away to his friends to enjoy. He was always willing to help a friend in need.
